On Monday, May 4th, the B.C. Building Trades launched a major new phase in their campaign to ensure union participation in the building of the Site C dam, running full-page advertisements in the Vancouver Sun, Prince George Citizen, and the Alaska Highway News. In these ads, the Building Trades called on B.C. Hydro to negotiate a “Construction Partnership Agreement” that would maximize the benefits of the Site C project for the B.C. workforce, and ensure preferential hiring practices for local workers .
The ads also announced the public launch of the Building Trades’ website, www.buildsitectogether.com, which is aimed at soliciting public comments in support of a Construction Partnership Agreement for Site C. As a member of the Building Trades, IUOE 115 encourages all of our members, and the general public, to log on to www.buildsitectogether.com and leave their comments in support of this campaign.
