IUOE Local 115 opened their hearts, and their wallets, with a $10,000 donation to the Variety Show of Hearts Telethon Saturday night. Every year, Local 115 raises money with charitable events and industry contributions to provide a generous donation to the important organization. “Local 115 is thrilled to have participated in the telethon for the past 16 years, and has contributed over $100,951 to date,” says Business Manager Brian Cochrane.
Further supporting the 50th annual Variety Show of Hearts Telethon, IUOE Local 115 members spent their Valentine’s Day, Sunday February 14th, helping answer phones and taking donations. Over $6.8 million was raised over the two-day event this weekend, nearly $1 million more than 2015.
Through the charity, BC families are provided grants for medical emergencies, therapy, specialized equipment, drugs, out of town accommodation and travel costs. The entertainment accompanying this years’ telethon included 54-40, Aaron Pritchett and Sophie Simmons. Over $18 million has been raised during the Telethon by Variety since 2010, with past shows featuring Michael J. Fox, Michael Buble, and Ray Charles.
If you didn’t get a chance to donate during the telethon, you can still do so here.
