The Tower Crane 2-day refresher course prepares individuals to write the SkilledTradesBC level 1 and 2 standardized level exams and Red Seal exam. In preparation for the course, participants will be required to complete a self-paced 6-hour homework assignment. An entry exam will be given on the first day to test their knowledge on their homework assignment.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

  • Reviewing SkilledTradesBC Tower Crane Operator: Occupational Analysis Chart (OAC); Standardized Level Exam Breakdown
  • Exam writing tips and how to use an exam bubble sheet
  • Reviewing WorkSafeBC Regulations Parts 14, 15, 19 and CSA Z248-08
  • Performing rigging, and rigging hardware identification and inspections
  • Analyzing rigging hitches and calculate load weight, leverage, and sling tension (both equal and unequal lengths)
  • Applying the inverse factor, interpreting a Rigger’s pocket guide
  • Carrying out tower crane load chart calculations
  • Reviewing websites to assist with tower crane examination skills

You will need to provide proof of an approved Challenge Application issued from SkilledTradesBC. To officially challenge for your Red Seal Exam for Tower Crane Operator you must have a minimum 3,000 hours including 1,000 operating hours and 1,000 rigging hours. Learn more at BC Crane Safety.
